Happy Birthday Riley!!

Today is my son Riley’s birthday! he’s 4.

Riley

So in honor of his day I’m posting his fav. youtube video for all to enjoy and  or be annoyed with, witch ever is the case for you. He’ll love it and that’s what counts.

Don’t forget tomorrow is “Blog Birthday” and we will draw names for the free t-shirt so make sure you have commented on the Blog Birthday post! It looks like the people have spoken, 72% vote for a regular t-shirt over a v-neck shirt. So it will be!!!

One last thing… Read James 2:17 and then go do something today!!!

love ya.

Update

Thanks to those who were concerned about Riley. Good news he’s gonna live!! Ok that’s a little over the top… He had a nasty flu bug and the doctor said he hadn’t seen it act that way before. Bottom line, Riley is fine!

Just had to share this. Many of you know about my love for all things taco bell. I found this story and I have to say as much as I love Taco Bell this might be to far.

NORMAL, Illinois – Wedding bells meant the Mexican fast food chain Taco Bell for Paul and Caragh Brooks.

Customers inside the fast-food restaurant continued to order tacos and burritos as the couple sat Friday in an orange Taco Bell booth and exchanged vows.

“It’s appropriate,” groom Paul Brooks said. “It’s an offbeat relationship.”

You can read the rest of the story on MSNBC.

I’m Lame

It’s hard to believe that we are almost half way through January. It’s the 13th and this is my first post… lame!!! I can’t sleep… or… don’t want to sleep right now because Riley our 3 yr. old just went into the emergency room. I’m waiting up to hear what’s wrong with him. It’s the worst feeling in the world to know your kid is hurting and you can’t help. Even worse is when you try to help and your kid just doesn’t want you to touch them. Since I’m sitting here alone just me and my thoughts, I couldn’t help but over analyze the whole situation. As a Dad it breaks my hart to hear my son cry in pain, and when he fights you while your tyring to help, words can’t do justice to the feelings you have. As Christians I think we are some times like a sick 3 year old. We find our self in hurting situations and when our father tries to help, we throw a fit. Now I don’t believe for 2 seconds my son loves me any less, he just doesn’t know how to express his pain but to lash out. Isn’t that exactly what we do even as adults? Instead of calming down and allowing God to help us, we lash out and hurt what ever is in our way. I know I’m guilty of this. My prayer is that I just grow up. My 9 year old wants us to do everything for him when he’s sick. Well maybe not that bad, but as he’s grown up he knows dad just wants to help. He doesn’t fight me while I’m tyring to assess the issue. He communicates where it hurts better. If we can grow up spiritually and understand our father is there to help and tell him what hurts our healing time can be shorter. We won’t damage other relationship out of our own poorly expressed pain. If your hurting let God help, He is there as a loving father. He wants to make it better. Just like I want to make Riley better tonight.

Friday’s

I like Fridays a lot. Its technically my day off but I love what I do so much that it usely turns into more of a just slow down and don’t do as much day. But today was a unique day. Even though I did a little work on my talk for this weekend (found out today my pastor will not be in town this weekend so I’ll be speaking in all 3 services at our church) I’ve done nothing but enjoyed the day. I went on a winter run and froze my hands. I thought I did some damage however my personal MD also know as my wife sprung into action and fixed me up. Then this evening we did some pumpkin carving with the boys. It’s been a great day and very relaxing. I’m looking forward to this weekend and our services, but for now I’m just going to enjoy the rest of this great Friday.

Massage

Ok so this is a little weird. Last year for Pastor Appreciation day our Youth Group decided to get Mikal and I a gift certificate for a massage place here in town. I have never experienced any thing like this in my life. I’m not sure how I feel about paying someone to touch me for an hour. Is it just me or is the idea of stranger rubbing you for an hour a little over the top? I don’t know, I’m struggling with this concept in my head. However I gave my word that I would do it and my wife has chosen the day, so I’m locked in. Help me Jesus!!!!

What are any tips to be prepared for this? any advise?

Random Monday

Yesterday was by far the most random day I’ve experienced in a while. Let me set the day up by saying that my wife recently had knee surgery and is bed ridden. So I’ve been playing Mr. Mom this past weekend. I’m clearly not a very good parent either, it was brought to my attention that the boys did not get a bath all weekend. This brings us to Monday. Here’s the quick run down:

1. Riley wakes up in the 4am-ish time frame and cries about his mouth hurting.

2. I get into the office as I walk in the door the fire alarm goes off.

3. I sit down at my desk and start my video editing for the week and about 10 min. in the fire alarm goes off again. This time I almost pee my pants. I was so focused on editing that sudden loud noises like that lets you know your still alive.

4. I’m contacted by 2 students in Europe via skype who want to talk about the differences between Christianity and Catholicism.

5. Day care calls to come pick up the sick 3 yr. old.

6. 3yr. in my office the rest of the afternoon. We made this video to entertain him so I could finish my work.

7. We go to Doctor’s office to confirm a sore thort.

In all the unexpected interuptions I still managed to crank out a TV show and do most of what I need to. Oh the craziness that is Mondays. So what happend to you this Monday?

Play Time

Last night before bed the boys and I had some killer play time. Both of my sons love to fly through the air and I like throwing them, so it works out well. I got this idea to spin them like a helicopter, just thought it would be fun. I was right. check out these shots…

Movie review

I’m sitting in the movie “Star Wars – The Clone War” I’m writing a post right now, so that tells you what I think of the movie. All the reviews I’ve read were right. It’s not a good movie, except for one fact, my son is loving it. I’m not sure how it happened but Tyler is a star wars nut. He’s sitting here telling me all the character’s names and he’s on the edge of his seat. So here’s how it breaks down:
Movie tickets to a bad movie = $11.00
Popcorn & drink = $11.00
Seeing my son have a great time = worth it!
