Change
Let’s start this thing by saying hello. It’s been a while and I feel like a stranger in the admin pannel of my own web site. Not good! Let’s not waste time…
I’ve been studying the subject of change for a few weeks now. In fact we’ve been teaching on this subject for the last 3 weeks at 3py. Change is an interesting thing. The more you think you know about it, the more you have to realize you actually know nothing about it. That’s the very nature of change. Once you start to grasp something it… changes! I wish I had the 12 step program for change to sell you, then I’d be rich and you’d be better off. But that’s just not the case. The truth is change is hard and takes a lot of work. As I’ve tried to come up with a “way” to change all my efforts have pointed back to this simple thing.
1 Corinthians 6:9 “Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves…”
Inorder to change you have to stop “fooling yourself”. As long as you rationalize your addiction, problem, habit, or whatever you are struggling to change you will never change! When your mind is set in the way you think you have no chance of changing or growing. This applies to every area of life. I’d be willing to bet you need to change in many areas of life and because of the way you think you don’t even know it. You can’t honestly tell me every area of your life is as effective and as good as it can possibly be. However, you have fooled yourself into the sense that things are OK and no change is necessary, therefore life can remain comfortable. Let’s face it, isn’t that the root of why we don’t change? It’s just to uncomfortable and takes to much effort. Heres the problem though, in our natural human state we do wrong instinctively. We don’t mess up by accident, we mess up by nature. Here lyes the importance of this verse. Wrong doing equals separation from good. Those who live a life of wrong doing won’t inherit the kingdom of God, or have part in his blessings!
I really do wish I could tell you how to change, I can’t. There is no one sure fire way to bring change in your life. It works differently for everybody, you have to travel that road and figure that out for yourself. But I can tell you that all change starts when you stop fooling yourself and realize you need to change. If your looking for a way to change Jesus said, “I am the way, the Truth, and the life!” Let Jesus show you the way, the truth, and life!
