Honesty and Reality.
This week I’ve heard some doo-seys!!! Just good people flat out lying their head off. It got me thinking… I know your thinking don’t hurt yourself, but hey, whatever. Why do people lie? What is so intriguing about giving false info? Here is what I came up with, and how to live honestly.
I think people lie because their flat out selfish. That’s right lying maybe the most selfish act known to man. when people starting lying it’s usually a from of self-preservation. Something has happened that the person wants to conceal and therefore fabricates a story that is acceptable to them at that moment. But here is what doesn’t work about a lie; a lie has no future. A lie is only a temporary fix. Here is whats most alarming about a lie, lies negate your future. While living a lie your bound to that lie, you can’t be who you are. You can’t move forward and grow under the guise of a lie. In Proverbs chapter 28 it talks a lot about honesty and wisdom but in versus 23 it says:
In the end, people appreciate honest criticism far more than flattery.
When I read this it hit me! Honesty is all about the end outcome. We lie because we lost focus of the end. When we are only concerned with this moment it’s easy to lie, in fact the reality is it makes perfect since to lie. That’s why so many people do it.
So how do fix this flaw in thinking and reasoning? The simple answer is keep your focus on the end outcome. Owning your mistakes and learning from them WILL make you a better person. The cost of honesty is great. But the reward of honesty is even bigger. Don’t let the temptation of the quick fix right now override your future. Honesty will always be rewarded.
