Country Music?

This may come as a shock to some, but I think my musical tastes are changing. Last night I was enlightened to a style of music that previously would have never gotten a second thought. Even as I write this I’m doubting myself. I’ve always hated and openly made fun of country music, but not any more! Country music has changed! And for the better I might add. What I heard last night was musical genius. It wasn’t “tear in my beer” old school country from yesteryear. Instead a blend of blues, rock, with hint of country twang. I’m not usually a big TV watcher and I certainly don’t get into reality TV, however I think my new favorite TV show is “Can You Duet” on CMT.

I think the contestants on this show are going to do more for country than anyone in the past. Not only are they talented, but I think they have the ability to reach a wider audience with their sound. I found myself wrapped up within seconds of turning this show on, and the funny thing is I did it by accident. I meant to turn on the channel below it on the dish menu, but the fashion style of the guy singing caught my attention. Then as I started to listen I thought, “Wow this guys good! What channel am I on?” And to my utter shock, I found CMT, Country Music TV. I’m not sure if this is a one night fluke or if this is truly the new face and sound of country, but if it is count me in….YEEEEEHAAAAAA!!!
